Pirates' Season Opener
Pirates take down American Sports Prep in season opener with dominant win.
The Chattahoochee Men's Basketball squad opened the 2024-25 campaign with a dominant 99-29 win over American Sports Prep on the inaugural night of the season this past Friday.
The Pirates jumped ahead early and took a 48-20 lead going into the halftime break. They continued the trend by opening the second half with a 17-0 run and never looked back. The Pirates ultimately outscored their opponent 51-9 in the second half.
This marks the first win of Head Coach Morris Scott’s debut with the Pirates. Sophomore Micah Hoover (Alpharetta, GA), led the Pirates with an impressive performance, racking up a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds, both being game-high totals. The second-year standout connected on 10/11 shots of the night, to boast the best individual performance of his Chattahoochee Valley career.
Joining Hoover in double-figures was freshman Karlton Knight (Quincy, FL) with 19 points, and sophomore Tyson Civil (Miami, FL) with 16 points and 9 rebounds. They both brought an instant impact to the game off the bench.
The Pirates return to action Friday and Saturday in Poplarville, MS in the All-State Invitational with a 7:00 PM (CST) vs. Pearl River Community College (MS) on Friday and at 12:00 PM (CST) vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast College on Saturday.
